After strong training last week, I wanted to continue to push forward again this week.
I start off by planning to run 10 miles whilst overnight in Reading on Monday. I set off at 7pm and started to pound the mean streets of Berkshire. I was feeling really good and even thought about running 15 miles before common sense kicked in and I decided to stay at the planned 10 miles.
7 miles in, I came to a road junction where a car was pulling up at the same time. As I didn’t want to break my stride, I effortlessly picked my speed up to beat the Ferrari, although it was dark so it could have been a Ford Orion, but as I moved like Mo Farah, I felt a sharp pain in my left ankle. (Editorial note - probably looked more like a bloke called Mo wearing a pair of Farah’s).
I carried on in pain for the remaining 3 miles. Once back at the hotel I iced and elevated, then turned my attention to my swollen ankle. It is still swollen as I write and I’m really hoping it settles down by the end of the week.
This run is already taking me on an emotional journey, I’m so disappointed but we have to push on!
Steve
